Lesley Hazleton- Islam is misunderstood

I repect her for ignoring the misnomas in the media and seeking the truth herself, and for revealing her learnings in front of a big audience. Of course the main media would ignore this.

A psychologist by training and Middle East reporter by experience, British-born Lesley Hazleton has spent the last ten years exploring the vast and often terrifying arena in which politics and religion, past and present, intersect. Her most recent book, After the Prophet: the Epic Story of the Shia-Sunni Split, was a finalist for the 2010 PEN-USA nonfiction award.

She lived and worked in Jerusalem for thirteen years -- a city where politics and religion are at their most incendiary -- then moved to New York. She came to Seattle to get her pilot's license in 1992, saw the perfect houseboat, and stayed. By 1994, she'd flown away all of her savings, and has never regretted a single cent of it. Now her raft rides low in the water under the weight of research as she works on her next book, The First Muslim, a new look at the life of Muhammad.

Has any religion ever alleviated human suffering in its time or shortly after its formation ?

Has the suffering of innocent children ever been reduced other than by the "disciplined acquisition of knowledge" (ie. Science) in the last 150 or so years ?

Where is the chief functional aspect of any of the religions - rather than words designed to create emotional hypnosis as a meme ?

It is stated in (Fatawa Mahmudiyah Vol 5, P298), the wives of the believers will have their husbands in Paradise. The unmarried woman will have whatever man she desires in Paradise and if she does not desire any of them, a special male Hur will be created for her. Not only will she have this favor but she will also have superiority over the Hurs (beautiful damsels of paradise).

He replied “The women of this world will have superiority over the Hurs as the outer lining of a garment have superiority over the inner lining.
