@MillyVanillification Because storing enough airbags to keep a yacht afloat even whilst full of water is incredibly impractical and space consuming.

@W4v3Rid3r The solution for this is foam core construction. The idea is for the hull itself to displace enough water to maintain boyancy even when flooding occurs. Not foolproof I'm sure, but it is the best thing that has been developed so far.

@MillyVanillification because you cant built a Airbag thats big enough and strong enough to hold a boat. even not a boat with this size. you cant pump enough air into a Airbag to hold the boat. thats the problem.

Always sad to see a boat go down. I have always thought a system of inflatable air bladders in the bow and stern might at least keep the boat at the surface long enough to patch the hole and start pumping. A cylinder of CO2 could be located on top of the keel to keep weight low and centered. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has thought of this.

that head sail tried to pull her out till the very last second,courageous little headsail!!!
why are there no airbags on boats? If I would spend 10 million on a yacht like this one it would have a ring of airbags around the hull.

@MillyVanillification
You are right. This is an excellent idea.
Maybe a hole in the market.
Who knows.
