This is the same Speaker, but right now its making very weird arcs. The music is too distorted to hear. It used to play music just fine but its giving me a annoying buzzing no matter if i use the pots to change the frequency. Can anyone help!

  • Have you found/fixed the problem?

exactly whats happening to mine. I believe it is the tl494 ic..i think replacing it will fix the problem

  • Hi. i replaced the TL494 chip and i still had the same problem. I tried replacing the powersource connected to the flyback. BINGO! Not enough amps. I had 2 6v running in series. I now have a 9v 3amp DC power source running it instead of batteries. i am now able to pull a nick thick 2cm spark off it. The music has also gotten considerably louder. Try changing your IC chip and replacing your power source

  • yeah disconected flyback and put a speaker instead and music was really ..really faint with a crikling noise(frequency the ic is putting out). I know amps isnt a problem, so just leads to ic then i suppose....but then how come i can still hear high pitched whine when i change potentiometer for ic frequency???

  • How many volts and amps are you putting through this?

  • Hy,

Please add a gate driver, you'll get better rise and fall times...

I would advice, the cheepest solution, to put a bd139 and a bc140, it is enuf for driving a single mosfet.... and for more mosfet's you'd need a stronger driver.... like those ucc's

put a 4,7 Ohm resistor, with a anti parallel diode , to the gate,, so, you'll get better fall time, and that would be a big improvement in your circuit

  • using laptop battery..12volts at +5amps. I just purchased 5pack of tl494 chips of ebay for 6.95 usd or $10austrlian for me, Ebays pretty cheap got 10pack of irf450 mosfets for $5, go there if you need spares.

Thinking about adding a gate driver to the circuit to make it more relaiable and stable. Take away the heating and blowing of mosfets/chips

  • lmao!!
