  • Are you expecting a meteor strike, JANDRUL, to 76% level the tall buildings in Santa Barbara? The 1925 SB earthquake shook off a few Granada tiles. The 6.9 Northridge earthquake didn't destroy the hospital there, nor did the 7.1 Loma Prieta; building requirements for Cottage are even stiffer. Must be scary to be you with such expectations!

  • Per the City of Santa Barbara Zoning Ordinance Section 28.87.038 "Reconstruction of Damaged nonconforming Structures":

    In the event such damage or destruction exceeds seventy-five (75%) of the market value of such nonconforming building or structure immediately prior to the damage ... no repairs or reconstruction shall be made unless every portion of the such building is made to conform to all the regulations for new buildings in the zone in which it is located.
