The community it was in is called Renfrew. They have buit condos on that site. Sad because the city has grown to well over a million people and we need more hospitals here.

Nice to see this video. I drilled 50% of the holes for the Dynamite. I don't quite rember but i think it was 9 buildings simultaneously.

Seems silly to demolish a well located hospital. The people responsible should have thought 5 years in advance.

Sniff...that is where I was born back in 64......

After the Calgary General Hopital was demolished, the City of Calgary created Foothills Hospital over the late-90's

@bergsteinlife Actually, It was closed because it had old plumbing, electrical wiring and other shit that would have cost more to remodel than to rebuild.

I saw this in person as a child. It is what inspired my love for explosives, and likely led to me enlisting in the Canadian Forces as a Combat Engineer.

I was born in that hospital, and was there with my wife and son to watch it go down. Its still odd to drive through there now with a park and some condos in it's place. Did they sell off the land, that was prime space right off of a major road.

you guys closed the largest hospital in the province because you guys couldnt afford to run in it in oil rich Alberta?
Got any more CFCN footage from the late-90's?
