2010 Short Course Showdown Sportsman A-Main

There's no doubt that Short Course truck racing has revitalized RC racing all around the country, and nearly 250 drivers headed to S&N's Trackside Hobbies in Brookfield, WI to compete in the first ever Short Course Showdown. With manufacturer support from HPI Racing, Team Associated, Traxxas, Thunder Power Batteries, Dynamite, Spektrum along with support from RC Car Action, RC Driver and RC Car magazines there was no lack of support for this event. We were on hand to cover and participate in the event from bell to bell. This video covers the Sprotsman A-Main. Young John Ermer, Jr. put his truck on the pole in qualifying but the snarling pack behind him would test this youngster early and often. The final lap was very exciting between Josh Starr and Barry Wenberg. Check out the race to see who the victor was.

What does Sportsman class entail?

@timbulb Sportsman is for the newcommer or inexperienced racer. Generally it's any SC truck, any kit-type tire (AE/Losi/Traxxas/HPI) and either the kit motor, 27T brushed or 17.5 brushless. It's for the guys to be able to race against guys with similar skill levels without worrying about getting run over by the faster guys.

@xmoder25 Its not easy to win a sportsman race, when your back in the pack dealing with all the mayhem.. and then when your the leader you have to work you way through all of that .. its not easy for anyone to just sit back and turn perfect laps. Everyone in that race got knocked around. But over all that was one of the cleanest Sportsman races you will ever see.
