The Kirklees Light Railway held their sixth annual Gala weekend entitled ' A Bouquet of Steam' on the 10th and 11th September 2011.

The celebration of festival and exhibition locomotives featured visitors Cagney No.44 from the Rhyl Miniature Railway, Peruvian Cagney and RH&DR No.11 Black Prince from The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in service alongside resident locomotives Badger, Fox, Hawk, Owl, Jay and not forgetting Scooter and Red Gauntlet doing their thing at Shelley.

A fantastic well attended event that delighted all, many thanks to all involved. Can't wait for next year.

  • Black Prince certainly sounds impressive. What's the history of those little American locos? They look more like 7.5" than 15" gauge. Interesting what a variety of sizes you can get on that guage.

  • @AndreiTupolev

One of them came from the Rhyl Miniature Railway and the other is privately owned. Black Prince was very impressive.

  • Black Prince is a real beast, I wonder if it's the biggest loco to have run on that line? Wish I could have been there this year, but great to be able to watch it here, great stuff Tommy!

  • @growler37

Black Prince really was big. Looked huge when you saw the little Cagneys next to it. It was a great event.

  • Thanks Mark. It was an excellent event and I agree Black Prince was very impressive. I hope you and Joseph enjoyed it as much as me.

    Cheers

  • @ConwyCastle

Thanks Shel, It was a great all round event and Black Prince was very impressive.

  • Superb video, Tommy. Looked like you did quite a lot of walking. It was a great event. Weather not as good as last year, but still reasonable. Fantastic choice of guest loco, 'Black Prince' looked and sounded superb but didn't like it when the rail was a bit wet. No doubt MonopodMan and me will see you there next year.

    Regards

    Mark
