Amanda from the Manitoba Eco Network instructs us how to sharpen a reel mower. A well-sharpened mover is an important component of a organic lawn care.
So let me try to undstance your way of thinking, who ever made this video. You make how-to film about sharpening a blade using a already sharp blade ! What is that? Why didn't you find an old one that's been sitting in someone's yard for the last 20 yrs? Does your method work ? how do we know, did it, in fact sharpen it? how do we know, was was already sharp...
you recommend using wd-40 which releases carbons into the atmosphere you hypocrytical dyke!! It's not an 'e' clip either, but it seems like you know all there is about loosey there lefty!! Bet you drive a guzzling suv too.
I don't think WD-40 or any petroleum based lubricant is appropriate. Dry based Teflon lubricant or some people say none at all. The grass itself actually lubricates the cutting surfaces. WD-40 or something like Enviro5 Natural Multi-Purpose Oil and Lubricant should only be used when storing the reel mower over the winter.
The blades sounded like they were adjusted too tight. I have two Great States mowers and one is very quiet (no squeaks from the reel) and it cuts well. The other mower is tighter like your mower. Both cut equally well.
Try running your mower a little bit looser. It'll be easier to push.
I love these mowers. Wish my neighbors would adopt them as each summer weekend is a cacophony of gas mowers cutting grass at dozens of homes up and down the street. At least they are mowing though... LOL!

@busbodger21 It doesn't help when they don't show her face in the video in some of those parts. I understand why, it just doesn't work.
