@1jimweda I just went through these steps, and I noticed that mine wouldnt work with the newest update from Sprint(EC05, I think...), it would go into gingerbreak and kept vibrating alot, then showed a "not sure what happened; please reboot phone and see if you have superuser" message- no joke! So I used Odin 3+ to switch back to an earlier version of Froyo, and then everything worked flawlessly. Hope that helps someone.
-
@1jimweda Yep I was completely stock. I agree I wish that app was updated
-
Hey qbking77, yeah, I understand you have nothing to do with it working or not. I was just kind of thinking out loud. It just seems weird that we're using the same hardware but it won't work on a lot of people's phones. It's like these Samsungs are very finicky. Are you bare bones and running stock Froyo when you use the app? I wish the guy who developed the z4Root app would go back and update it. Seems like it was one of the best "no computer" rooting apps at least based on what I've read.
-
@jimweda Some developers said they're look into it, but they never did... as you can see in the video it worked fine on my pc....
-
This is just confusing. This is supposed to allow you to root the Samsung Epic so why doesn't it work for most trying it. Am I missing some information like doing a hard reset first, pre-froyo or what? How does it work on "some" Epic's but not others. Isn't it all on the same hardware? Hard to believe that no one has actually made a working stand alone rooter straight from the phone. Seems like more of a headache using a PC. Please someone create a "no-pc rooting" app.
do i download ginger on computer and then usb it on my phone
