Nokia Launch the Nokia Young Fashion Designer Award 2009 with a Dress Re-construction

The countdown to the Nokia Young Fashion Designer Award 2009 kicked off today 11.00am, with an exciting dress re-construction in The Millpond, Dundrum Town Centre. The dress, created by Irish knitwear designer and NYFDA 2009 student mentor, Tim Ryan, was re-constructed on screen with one piece of wool and beamed out on the Dundrum Town Centre screens for shoppers to see.

Final year students from Irelands fashion and design colleges have been tasked with producing one cutting edge design, inspired by the new, sleek and revealing Nokia Supernova collection. This brief should produce garments reflective of the handset changeable, individual, glamorous, vibrant and self expressive.

The Nokia Young Fashion Designer Award 2009 live finale will take place on Wednesday, March 25th in Dublin, where an international judging panel including top fashion blogger, Susie Lau from www.stylebubble.typepad.com, Senior Menswear designer at Hermes, Brendan Mullane, Irish designer, Louise Kennedy and Godfrey Deeny, European Editor of www.fashionwiredaily.com will choose one winner from 20 finalists, after they show their creations live on the catwalk.
