Coral reefs are threatened worldwide. Scientists estimate
that 20 percent of the world's coral reefs are already
dead. The existence of another 60 percent hangs in the
balance as destruction from human activities threatens reefs
every day. All coral reefs are at risk from global warming.
If current trends continue we may lose this precious
resource within the next 30-50 years.
Human activity is the main cause of problems affecting
coral reefs. Due to coral sensitivity to even the slightest
change in local conditions, reefs are often the first
ecosystems affected by human alteration of the
environment.
coral reefs can never be destroyed : ( i'll never accept something like that... ever... if the great barrier would be gone i dont know what i'd do.... screw pollution and screw the ignorance of those who think that they can do what they please... have some empathy you sick basterds : ( protect the ocean, and we protect ourselves... perfectly said man (y)
