Frank Sinatra
Reprise Recordings
(A.Bergman, M.Bergman, M.Legrand)
[Recorded May 7, 1974, Hollywood]
The summer smiles, the summer knows, and unashamed, she sheds her clothes.
The summer smoothes the restless sky,
And lovingly she warms the sand on which you lie.
The summer knows, the summer's wise, she sees the doubts within your eyes,
And so she takes her summertime, tells the moon to wait and the sun to linger,
Twist the world around her summer finger.
Lets you see the wonder of it all,
And if you learned your lesson well,
There's little more for her to tell,
One last caress, it's time to dress for fall.
@gjones1200 Very imprortant..Sinatra himself said many times that he would be nothing if these writers and composers didnt exist. There are so many around the world and sometimes we forget them. Sinatra at that point of the year 1974 he had a pitch down in his voice and breath control changed in 1986. But still he was so good because he changed his singing a bit through the years and he had "strong" songs to sing. Bono wrtote one for Sinatra in 1993, Springsteen & Dylan the rest but never record

Of course Sinatra is brilliant as always - but let's not forget M. Lerand, Alan and Marilyn Bergman who wrote this beautiful song. The lyrics and the melody are simply stunning!
