The late 60's and early '70's were a time of tremendous upheaval in American culture as the hippie generation abandoned the values of their parents, turned to drugs and away from materialism, and went on a search for love and peace.

It was out of this tumultuous era that young, musical voices began to surface. These newly converted musicians began singing about the new hope they had found through Jesus Christ.

Darrell Mansfield was one of these young voices. Go behind the scenes with him to look at this exciting era in this clip from, "First Love".

  • What is all the squabble questioning the mans relationship with Christ over an old rock classic such as "Born to be Wild"!? Even the infamous christian singer Amy Grant crossed charts just to name one!

  • OK - let me ask this simple question, and please answer first with "no" or "yes" before any argumentation: do you believe Mr. Mansfeld is not saved because he sings Born to be Wild? Yes or No?

  • @raponte1955 If you haven't got what the Bible says concerning separating from the world you're a pityful person. You seem to be deceived and use phrases which do not fit the situation. I do not judge, but the Bible does! If you want to stay in this error I cannot change this...

  • @MarkOpee1 Singing and "ungodly" song like "Born to be wild" means nothing. The song is just an icon of rock culture. I would rather stay on the safe side and not judge Darrell, since I can't see what's in his heart. If somebody claims to be christian, I'd rather believe it unless there's obvious evidence of inmorality or any form of sin. But honestly, singing "Born to be wild" and wearing a "big silver cross" is irrelevant and does not reflect any fruits.

  • @raponte1955 Have you ever heard of the false prophets which will be known by their fruits? Have you ever heard about Jesus saying, not everybody which says "Lord, Lord" is going to heaven but those who obey the will of the father. When Mansfield sings ungodly songs like "Born to be wild" he is an enemy of God. This is what the Bible calls him. And wearing this big silver cross around his neck makes me wonder. Even spiritists do that.

  • @MarkOpee1 Have you ever heard of the Pharisees?

  • why won't this share?? love you Darrell!!

  • In 1993 I attended a concert of your's and I asked you to come speak at my high school's (Huntington Beach) bible study club...you came and spoke that week! It meant the world to me. Love You!

  • Great stuff.

  • Today he performs "Born to be wild". The audience he palys in thei svid, is really weird. Isn#t there the 2nd Chapter Of Acts - the Herrings sitting on the sofa? And Mansfield blows the harp with a shaking which makes me doubt, if he ever met the REAL Jesus testified in the Scripture. This is pure - FLESH
