@inhighspeed Uhm...it is a dirge. They are tired worn down prostitutes trying to attract johns, its not really supposed to be a bright happy, or simply sexy song. I mean at 3:39 they actually look like some sort of tentacled monster! I think this version is very much to the point.

The song IS sarcastic - you're right! These are not your cutesy prom queens here. They're older, worn out, broke and jaded. "Fun"," laughs" and "a good time" are for money, not for friendship or love. Crude and harsh are EXACTLY what they are , which is the reason they want to "get-up and get-out . . . and live".
