The walkie-talkies really change the tone of this scene in a negative way. The bike chase isn't nearly as dire or as grave. The guns impart more immediacy, Spielberg. Come on!

This was my favorite scene when I was a kid, and it still is. I love the part: "we made it! Oh shit!" XD
