Do crows actually stay with human owners or do they tend to fly away and never come back? I mean... compared to dogs, that tend very much to stay rather than leave...

Well Roger can't fly so he hangs about. Sometimes he stays out at night, but he always comes back./ He can climb trees very well.so he sleeps up in the branches.

I guess he might have flown off, that's really what I had hoped for, but it's nice to have him around.

i have an exactly the same baby hooded crow since yesterday! she or he cannot eat by itself! what kind of food do you give to roger? how do you know it's a boy?

In the absence of an egg Roger is a boy!In the 1st place I gave him water and seeds,but he was very fussy,then I gave him some fish fingers which I had microwaved & he liked that as the breadcrumbs are oily & the fish is good protein.otherwise you could give him egg? Anyway had to hand feed him for the first weeks, so prepare to get your hands dirty. I must warn you that crows can live for 15 years, so if you domesticate him too much you've got him for life!

Best if you can find a bird shelter!

@allcatslover crows remember ther yungs and touching them don't make them refuse or forgot them.The problem is that baby crows after first hand feeding often replace U for mother/father figure, and stick to idea for a life haha.U can relice it and if unhappy your crow will get back very fast.

@huwreynolds the best is to take it in place where U find it(if parents R still there).If not U can feed it with all kinde of meat chunks(beak sized for crow), If winter is near feel free to give butter as well,try nuts to, and do not close it in cage if possible.Do not get angry if it start to hide all U give to it all over the place, it will eat it some time later.Try to encourage other crows to come to garden if possible.Normally after 8-13 month it will become sexually''adult'' and fly away.

crows,usually fly away during firs breeding season they get.If U close a crow in cage it risk to get atrophy and become flightless for a life time.Comparing with dogs is not applicable do to crows high intelligence over the dogs,cats and every other mammal.Crows can think 4 step a head and dogs only 2 in best case.Since crows remember human face for more then 2 years they R able to reconnect with human owner ,and keep emotional connection with human owner for a long time even after they flyaway

Does Roger run back inside (or under cover) when he sees other birds? I would imagine that being unable to fly, he'd be somewhat in danger of being attacked by other birds.

The parents will still recogonize her/him. We took in a juvinile crow and each time we took Midnight out front it was litereally like a scene from The Birds. The mother was screaming at us for the first few days. I think the flock has learned through the years we aren't going to hurt the crows, just help them.

my hooded crow is bigger now,but she(or he) but

she still ask for food with the bill largely opened. i would like to set her free but i'm so afraid she cannot manage by her self. does her parents recognise her after one month and after i touched her? please help me! i don't want to do the biggest mistake of my life!
