It may be difficult to hear over the background noise but in the 'bad' case the buzzing sound is very loud. If simply loosening the screw doesn't work attempt to remove the top plate entirely and then replace it without screwing it in all the way.

  • This video has saved my sanity. That buzzing not only bugged me to death, the pinching also disabled the ability to play GameCube games. Thanks for putting this video up!

  • Thanks for putting this video up! Your solution worked perfectly, all I had to do was loosen one screw on the disk drive. I'm much more comfortable with this method than actually sticking something into the dvd player or bending pieces of metal like some others were suggesting...

  • uhmmm my wii was the exact opposite... the wii makes less noise when the wii is tightend... yet there is still a loud unexpected fan noise... must i take dissect further into my wii?

  • my soultion is to install and play games off a HDD, it also sometimes bastly improves loadtimes for stuff like metroid or SSBB.

  • no...mines much more loud, like you can hear it in the other room, also i took that whole plate off and it was still buzzing extremely loud. could it be the motor? idk please help

  • It didn't work......

  • This method didn't work for us. We ended up shaving down (slightly) the ridge in the middle of the spindle that was causing the problem.

  • this worked for me, thank you man!
