Brilliant performance by John Martyn of his echoplex masterpiece, Outside In. This is pure John Martyn all the way, and the way that many will forever remember him and revere him for...generating unbelievable sounds from one acoustic guitar, his echoplex, wah pedal and a fuzzbox. He used to be billed as 'the one man Pink Floyd'...and this shows why. A brilliant composition allowing innovative guitar playing and also his amazing vocals to create an awesome soundscape. I think of this as his 'pot-pourri' echoplex piece, or possibly more like a 'Paella' because it has essential elements that characterise it, but also has some variable inclusions, version to performed version. [Excerpted from the DVD Man Upstairs-Germany 1978 concert, and well worth getting-a complete one man John Martyn show with a great selection of music. I recommend to buy this -and get full quality video and audio -if you're a JM fan or guitar nutta-you'll not be disappointed!]

  • On FB I'm Mick Lee Green, would appreciate it if you can hook me up. Many of my old mates from those days, like John, are no longer around. But who knows, maybe some of 'em are still out there. Just found Paul Rowan online, one of the best harp players ever. Haven't seen him since we opened for Alan Price in 81 myspace.com/akalittlematthew/photos/14926305#{%22ImageId
