There is a widely held view that belief in God falls into the same category of irrationality as belief in the tooth fairy, Santa Clause, the Easter bunny and in the words of the arch anti-theist, Richard Dawkins, belief in the 'flying spaghetti monster' - this televised debate pits the atheist view of things against the Biblical worldview...

  • Who else came here because they thought that was William Shatner?

  • @osks"If you will desist in all your ad hominems and refrain from just making wild accusations in a pontificating way, then I will be willing to engage you"

ER ...black kettle talking !!! - Check out your own behaviour throughout these threads!!

I posited good arguments to you - you respond with arrogant superiority and Ad Homs!

Apparently, you don't like debates where the other guy is allowed to respond!

Still, that's only how theism has been able to sustain since it's incession!

  • You're quite correct that I am called to give a reasoned defense of my Christian faith (as much as you are for your atheistic naturalism!), however, that is only possible when there is an air of 'openness' to discuss and consider things in a reasonable manner! And you seem everything but reasonable and willing to consider things rationally!

If you will desist in all your ad hominems and refrain from just making wild accusations in a pontificating way, then I will be willing to engage you...

  • @osks "Matthew 7:6...."

Ha ha!! It's amazing how many discussions with theists are concluded with that parting shot ......But what about these:-

    1Peter 3:15 or Matthew 28:19??

  • Matthew 7:6....

  • @osks"Every optical illusion and every slight of hand performed by a magician is only possible because our senses can be 'fooled'/tricked'!" It seems you don't know the difference between intuitive instincts and empiricism!!?

Intuition tells us the the Earth is rigid, geocentric and flat. Empiricism shows us that this is not the case.

  • @osks "Every optical illusion and every slight of hand performed by a magician is only possible because our senses can be 'fooled'/tricked'"

I have a lot of experience with stage magicians' tricks. I have always been able to over-ride any credulity in them with inductive and, more particularly, deductive reason.

  • @osks"what sense experience did you have to tell you that you can only rely on what your senses tell you?" It is ALSO the one creationist try to use till they're cornered by unsurmountable evidence.

And it beats the hell out of the hearsay that all theists rely on to support their world view.

  • @osks "what sense experience did you have to tell you that you can only rely on what your senses tell you?"

I don't know which question you have dishonestly accused me of dodging, but this one looks the most prominent - so here you are again:

Everyconcept and methodology has to rely on presupposition. Empiricism is consistantly and extensively cohesive, and therefore the only likely reality.

  • @osks Haha! - There stands the extent of your ability to respond to a rational argument!! The dimissive and desperate ad hom!! A perfect explanation as to why you theists only want to discuss the rationality of your intellectual position amongst yourselves, where there is no challenge to your reasoning!!!

Also a perfect explanation as to why theist channels are usually closed to comment and secular and rationalists ones are usually open!
