Iran leader says US supporting terrorists in Iraq
Irans leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, today accused the United States of supporting terrorists in neighboring Iraq.
During a visit to Irans western Kurdistan Province, he said: We have concrete information that the Americans are collecting intelligence, spending money and providing arms behind our western border; they are busy with organizing plots and fostering terrorists and breeding sinister thoughts.
Irans western border region with Iraq has been the scene of numerous conflicts between Iranian forces and Kurdish separatists, including the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan [PJAK].
Khamenei, who was ending his eight-day visit to Kurdistan Province, warned that the United States has dangerous plans for Kurdish-populated areas, and was seeking to control them.
German Parliament: Trade with Iran could be reduced
German Federal Parliament, Der Bundestag, yesterday in an official statement announced that Germanys trade with Iran could be reduced.
According to that statement German government has repeatedly warned German firms and unions about the dangers of continuing to trade with Iran.
This statement is the latest reaction of the government to the critical questions posed to it by the opposition, the libertarian, Free Democratic Party of Germany [FDP].
According to the statistics offered by the German parliament, the volume of Germanys exports to Iran, which was at 3573 billion euros in 2004, has increased to 3918 billion euros in 2008. In the same timeframe, Germanys imports from Iran has increased from 357 million euros to 529 million euros.
Two men hanged in Iran reports
Iranian media reported today that a man convicted of murder and another for drug trafficking were hanged in Iran.
Mahmoud, who was angered by the marriage of a woman he desired to another man, allegedly stabbed and burned the body of the husbands brother, to take revenge on the family. He was hanged in the central city of Esfahan.
In a separate execution, Ahmad A., who was convicted of smuggling 23 kilograms [50 pounds] of heroin, was hanged in a prison in the southwestern city of Dezful.
The reports did not say when the executions took place.
