  • The translation falters at a few key points, especially his quote of the text which influenced him at 19 years old. Please, a bit more attention next time... it's too important to loose!

  • Paulo Freire was not a fanatist. He was an honest christian. He was a man full of hope and plenty of praxis. Something that it's difficult to say from any other man. He thinking is not childish, maybe you can understand it. The fact is that you really have to be a christian to be able to do what Freire did. To be with the ones who need hope and education. Childish is a person that doesn't get the reality can change more when the Gospel become praxis.

  • The only thing that tore apart the latinamerican people were the rightist military juntas supported by the CIA and the USA government. Theology of liberation has always been the voice of the wretched of the Earth. And the last two Popes have been real pricks who have no idea what's going on in Latinoamerica.

  • is he a marxist?

  • Paulo Freire = One of the smartest men in world history

    Hasta la Victoria Siempre !

  • "Communism begins at the outset with Atheism" - Karl Marx

  • Masses:

Marx said that to be a Marxist, one MUST be both an Atheist and a Materialist.

Marxism is opposed to Christianity - dogmatically so.

  • Thank you for posting and translating the interview. Personally I think the spritual element in Paolo's message is a distraction. But I have deep respect for him and others before him like St Francis of Assisi. Lenin once said that if there were 10 St Francis' then there would be no need for revolution. I think Paulo was a true 'Christian', i.e trying to be 'like' Christ... not just to follow what the church says.
