  • In regards to color. Get the color right BEFORE you sign into your first duty assignment (so do it while on leave, then when go to sign in you'll already have the color and no one can say anything, cause if you do it in b/w, their going to see the difference. You should buy a navy hat and see if it the puff is too big for the hat, if not, wear the puff. oh a piece of advice on BASIC. DONT VOLUNTEER FOR SHIT, YOU HEAR ME,DONT VOLUNTEER FOR NOT ONE DAMN THING, EASIEST WAT TO GET RECYCLED GOODLUCK

  • Thanks so much for ur advice! Wait- I was old to volunteer for things because it gets u out of other duties and also places u in leadership positions. id like to hear ur opinion on this.

  • You didnt want to join the USAF!!???? LOL. Your best bet for BASIC is cornrolls, leave the ends loose, so you can put in a pony tail. B/C you are a natural, your PUFF is going to be out of REGS. Im sure there will be sistas who can braid in your flt. You want COLOR, girl you should have came to the USAF. the color you are talking abt getting is pretty bold for the NAVY's taste (I could be wrong). Dye your hair when when you go on leave, right before you get to your 1st duty assignment

  • haha, no i asked around at the AF when i was making decisions, but decided on the Navy. Yeah, im going to do the cornrows, but I'm going to get them pinned because if they are loose they will definitely cut them off. Now, im being told by someone that they heard they will cut them even if pinned so i might be screwed either way. I'll have to ask about coloring hair. Didn't think about what they might say about the color i want. Thanks for bringing it up so I can ask.

  • cant help you wit that product cuz i dont buy products like dat i use my basic spray bottle mixture and shea butter n dats it.

about the bootcamp i was in da navy did 4yrs n got out when i went to bootcamp i braided my hair back in cornrows n tuck it under n my rdc told me once i kept it braided she wont make me cut it, i also saw some ppl do fullhead of weave n cut it to regulation dont take anything wit u cuz u would have to send it home, u get to go to da navy exchange n buy very basic stuff

  • i really think im going to cornrow mine now. thanks for the info!

  • You can always cornrow it to a ponytail

  • I read that a protein has to be smaller enough to penetrate the hair shaft. Most products that have hydrolyzed protein or hydrolyzed collagen is a good light protein. Giovanni's reconstructor seems to be really lite since they have no hydrolyzed protein at all.

The navy does not cut your hair you just need to wear it up above the color.

  • I've seen video reviews on it and they say it's very helpful and keeps hair moisturized and all that good stuff...check out a review on it on misskrissnew's page :)

  • I'll give you my AF point of view. My recruiter told me dont volunteer for anything. What we mostly got volunteered to do was dorm guard for other flights (dont do it) the instructors from those flights were quick to TRY to get you recycled. Leadership positions are the quickest way to get recycled too b/c your in the spotlight, and they will come down harder on you because of it. You wont be doing any volunteering your first 2 weeks anyway.....wait and see what other folks are doing first.

  • (cont'd)... after you shampoo your hair (try to aim for a shampoo with NO SULFATES, because sulfates strip the hair of moisture)...let the conditioner sit for 20mins to and hour < the longer the conditioner is left in, the better : )

As you wash the conditioner out, you'll feel the moisture in your hair... just style and go!!!!

  • A suggestion for a hair product to use while in the Navy... you can use a cholesterol conditioner (my mom used it in my hair as a little girl, and I've recently started using it again)

The product I use is called LE KAIR: CHOLESTEROL CONDITIONER [there is alcohol and mineral oil as ingredients, but I haven't experienced dry-out/damage from usage after all these years].....
