Well you do have a point with the feeling remark, however just so you know, Malmsteen and Vai are masters of all techniques. They can alternate pick sweep pick and one hand legato. Tapping is used because there are some licks you literally can't play without tapping.

and this fucking finger tapping....real guitarists could do this only with their left hand.......it's not a keyboard.....;)
