  • I'm a fisherman to but that to me looks like a ghosty so am i right in presuming ghosty's are just Fisherman's slang for that breed of Koi?

  • Like I said before, KOI means colour in Japanese and this fish is yellow.

    Ghosties are white or mottled white.

  • Please look up the word "colour" in Japanese!

  • Its touch and go to as if thats a koi or a common as ive caught many 20s and 6 30s now and a fair few of mine have looked similar with dark patches, im not sure what causes it, however the markings were not quite as they are with this fish, im 50/50 to be honest and wouldnt like to place a bet on if its a common or koi, id rather save me money. Having said that i wouldnt be bothered which it was, its a 30lb carp :o) get the beers out, cracker.

  • Koi were originally bred from genetic anomolies like this fish. The more they are cross bred the further they get from the original strain. As a result Koi carp like pure breeds of cats and dogs live shorter lives as they are more prone to disease and are genetically weaker.

  • its a ghost koi nice fish

  • A contradiction in terms - Ghost being White and Koi menas Coloured Carp in Japanese!

  • Fantastic fish ienvy you! just want to say its nie to see how you took god careof the fish and covered her up when she flaped and how you poured water over her more people need to take care of there fish like that no atter what size! Well done mate.

  • You are right more people do need to take care of carp like this, i take more care of my carp i catch than my kids so my mates tell me lol but i feel when i catch a large carp and its mint condition, its because others before me have taken the same steps and when i look at a carp which is in mint condition i get great satisfaction out of it and therefore looking after it is a combinations of keeping it mint and allowing others the same feeling when they catch it. Small carp are as important to.

  • lovly ghosty there mate !

  • Koi=Carp

    Nishiki=Colour

    Nishigikoi=coloured carp

    Dont tell me that koi means colour -.-

  • It's a ghostie. Ghost carp are a cross between commons or mirrors and koi. Usually ogons or asagis.

  • @UkFisherman81lb You are right in saying it looks like a ghosty by the markins on its head but its a koi cause of its colour mate :)

  • i caught a koi yesterday only mine had bright orange patches on its head and weighed 7-8lb

    beautiful fish though :)

  • Doesnt help that its on film and we cant see it real life so to speak like they can, ive had a couple more looks cos lets face it, it is a fantastic fish to look at and even i now go back on my comment previous, it is a koi, 2:33 certainly shows it as well as other angles on the video. Lovely fish to and one i wouldnt turn me nose up at and would happily spend a week in the snow trying to catch :o)

  • great fish fella,,,,drew
