God has provided remedies for many ailments. These remedies can be found right outside your door! Visit our blog for more natural medicinal info: http://billyandanuttama.wordpress.com/

Usnea has been used as a medicinal herb for at least 3500 years. It has anti-biotic, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties and is used to treat tuberculosis.

This video was made in November in Washington State. Usnea is found in many, if not most evergreen and mixed new growth forests.

  • Could you please tell me what breed your dog is in the video?

  • Will Sniff's Mom was very pregnant when I found her in the woods. She delivered 11 pups, mostly yellow ones, some with short fur and some with fur like Sniff's. Sniff's Mom, the stray, is a pure black lab. His Dad? Probably pure neighborhood dog. (Mom got spayed and Sniff is also surgically improved:)

  • Thank you for making this video. It was helpful and imformative. :)

  • Sniff is very cute by the way.

  • Thanks, I have been sick and having trouble breathing at night. I'm going to give it a try! Say hi to R and B for me. Saw Mom last Thursday and she said she had a nice visit. Love you, Margaret

  • 1. Unless otherwise prescribed: 2 g per day of [powdered, crushed, cut or whole] [plant part]

    2. Infusion: 2 g in 150 ml of water

    3. Fluidextract 1:1 (g/ml): 2 ml

    4. Tincture 1:5 (g/ml): 10 ml

  • Found this also: Because usnic acid is not water soluble, the tincture is preferred (1:3, 70% alcohol), or you can decoct. A crock pot works well. Usnea can also be made into a salve.

  • Other youtube videos say to boil this first to release and activate the medicinal value. I'd imagine that one would injest both the tea and the herb. My granny from Cuba would boil this type of thing also.

  • I would rate you five but I can't find the tab ...I wonder where it is?

  • Shingles! And too young to get the vaccine (me too, for a while.) Liked your video. We keyed in on the same plant (search You Tube for eattheweeds and my website of the same name for more on lichen) The Indians used Usnea to dress wounds, and like half of the lichen it is antiseptic and antibiotic. As for tea, perhaps soaking for 15 minutes in hot water. If the amount you are eating doesn't give you a stomach ache from the acid, then there is no problem eating it.
