  • I WISH CARL SAGAN COULD HAVE STUCK AROUND A FEW MORE MONTHS TO SEE THE MARS ROVER CRUISING AROUND ON MARS. HE WOULD HAVE LOVED THAT. I CAN SEE HIM GRINNING AND JUMPING UP AND DOWN--LIKE I DID.

  • @TheZAMBONILADY Far to the left and halfway up your keyboard exists a key marked Caps Lock. If you could give that guy a single tap it'd be greatly appreciated.

  • @SirNewt - I think you are overreacting

  • @PsycCentauri Hold on while I regain control of my faculties.

  • Carl Sagan is hero!

  • Lack of grammar hurts head!

  • i have a man crush on carl sagan

  • I wish there was an updated version of this show on TV right now, it be nice to see all the updated theories and progress made since the 80's. Instead we get shitty reality tv shows.

  • Those are some SERIOUS chops!

  • Organic molecules. Life's raw material.

  • ok i'm confused what did he create in that experiment? molecules?

  • One person can't comprehend biology, even after it's explained to them.

  • Carl Sagan sounds like Agent Smith. 'Mmmisssster Aaanderserrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnn...'

  • @GiLligEN It's not even about being smart, not everyone can be smart. I can honestly admit I don't have a massive intellect; I struggle to grasp the theory of relativity and I find that quantum mechanics is beyond my comprehension for the most part. I do however have a burning curiosity and a mind capable of skeptical inquiry. That's all one needs to begin to appreciate the true beauty of the universe.

Sagan already answered your question sufficiently. Much evidence from the DNA of organisms living today suggests that all of these organisms are related. We share an ancestor with trees, but it is very, VERY distant. As Sagan's simple explanation of the evolution of life on Earth showed, plants branched off from the organisms that would become humans fairly early in the tree of life.

  • The notes of the music of life sound like Mahler's Second Symphony "Resurrection"... very appropriate!!!
