If I was in the teacher's shoes the little shit would have been picking up his teeth with a broken arm. I hope the poor guy is shown leniency, of course he went too far but it's completely understandable, the vile and cruel taunts he suffered would have tried the patience of a saint. I think in this day and age, teachers hands are tied when it comes to unruly pupils. The human rights brigade has put a stop to many punishments and therefore children have a free reign to do and say what they please. In my opinion they have drove this poor man over the edge.
