Al Jolson is great favorite of Pacino and it is fascinating just compare how closely his signature performances have been influenced by this entertainer. His left side hang, expressive eyes and use of body rhythm and gesticulation are uncannily like Jolson. He similarly dominates the set like a stage – refusing to let the camera do all the work - by filling it with movement. This creates a sense of greater physical intimacy with the audience.
