  • i started making animations about 2 years ago and immediately posted all my work onto deviantart and people loved it. but i can see your point with all the dicks on youtube. The people on deviantart seem to be nicer and more appreciative though.

  • M-dot you're a great inspiration, thanks man.

  • I sent you a private message in response to this video, I would've sent an email, but I am unable to find your email.

It's regarding your offer to critique the work of fans you've inspired. I wouldn't pester you if I didn't think you'd enjoy my work, so I apologize if I crosses a line. I do realize this video is 3 years old, so I fear rubbing you the wrong way with an offer you regret putting out in the open.

  • I'm definitely sending my biggest hit film animation thingie to M Dot Strange first...but only when i'm Mega Hella Awesome xD

  • Dude, this is so true! When I first started I thought I was the shiz, so I uploaded on YouTube. Then I got a bunch of jack ass comments about it. I went through a huge slump creatively, then I just thought, "SCREW YOU DICK!" and now I actually have somewhat of a fan base, because I don't care!

  • I totally agree about your teacher point. I'm an english major, and I write at home. I told a teacher that I wanted to be a novelist, etc, and they told me that I should really take a creative writing course. That was horrible. This creative writing teacher SEETHED with the bitterness of failure and not only kept the important criticisms hidden, but only gave out lame comments like how it wasn't realistic, interesting, etc. So that was the only creative writing class I took.

  • "thats Gay,"

    "that sucks"

    "die"

Ive gotten all three of those lol!

great advice, altho I wish I had seen this sooner.

  • I love Stephen's autobiography, its an incredible read

  • I understand what you mean. I make DJ mixes and I am working on other music projects. I let my friends listen to a mix I made and they loved it. Ive been getting positive but useless feedback. I put my mix up on youtube expecting to be told how much I suck and stuff but Ive gotten no comments that tell what Im doing wrong. I want someone to tear it apart and critique the hell out of it. I could work with that to make it better.
