Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR): Well, the Republicans are invoking Freddy Krueger and saying he wrote health reform. Tell you whats scary scary is losing your job and being confronted with a bill for a continued health insurance that eats up 2/3 of your benefits. Even more scary, and this has happened to people in my district, is having your company go bankrupt and being told that your health insurance will cost more than your unemployment benefits. That is if you can get it. If you've never been sick. If your kids have never been sick you can go in the private market and buy a policy that exceeds your unemployment insurance. Of course, if you have ever been sick, pre-existing conditions, forget about it. 132 days ago, the Republicans promised they would have their own health care plan. Where is it?

  • @cowboybill117: What we need to stop is corporate welfare. Stop giving the oil companies tens of billions of dollars in subsidies! Those wealthy bastards don't need it and they're getting too powerful!

  • The dem party need to learn to say no. This bill passes it will be the end of America. The cost is now 6.5 trillon.

  • HOW LONG WILL WE ALLOW FOR THE SILLY NOTION THAT BECAUSE PRESIDENT A DID DUMB THINGS, IT MUST BE A REEAALLY GOOD IDEA FOR PRESIDENT B TO DO EVEN DUMBER THINGS? Our economic mess is the price we have paid for electing DUMB and DUMBER. We were told during the campaign that president A had led us in the wrong direction and President B would lead us out of the mess, but instead of reversing course he has stomped on the gas pedal.

  • How interesting that this health care "plan" doesn't go into effect until AFTER THE 2012 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Coincidence????? I don't think so. You people are so out of touch with the American people, it is pathetic.

  • Obama needs to get off his ass and start knockin heads...starting with Joe the Bummer Lieberman

  • The Republican Plan for Health Care is let it die.

    WE NEED TO FIGHT BACK

WE HAVE THE POLITICAL CAPITAL TO PASS THIS

WE NEED TO SPEND SOME OF THAT CAPITAL RIGHT NOW
