@jhaley12 Yeah funny you mentioned getting the weight too far forward because the first thing I was going to say was you might be standing to close to the ball, which causes heel hits and shanks. If the problem is just with the driver a lot of good pros believe you have to address the ball with either the head hovering or off the toe.If you play it flat on the ground squared you get alignment issues in the downswing.Center of Gravity Golf here at UTUBE does a great job of explaining.
@secretogolf I've discovered that I had too much weight on my heels and in the downswing I was forced over onto my toes bringing the hosel closer to the ball, sometimes I got by with it but most of the time I didn't. But you're right I've been making sure my right hand is very passive in the release and just follows the left. Thanks very much for your help I really appreciate it.
@jhaley12 SometimesU cn be a bit OTT and not hit those Ts .Since your a 4 HC I would imagine it is not a big move.Hitting the ball from the inside is good as long as it is in the slot.Maybe U need to address the downward part of impact and release. How U come down into the ball is where you get your power and launch. That is why earlier I mentioned using your left arm and hand primarily for release to impact.Let the right go along for the ride. This has worked with my better and starting students.
@secretogolf Hi, I appreciate the answer very much but how it is possible for my ball to start right and then hook if I'm coming over the top? I've placed a ball in front of and inside the rubber tee on my hitting mat and I don't touch it which would mean if I did I would be over the top but if I reverse that, put the ball outside the tee with it to the inside I hit it at impact. I feel sometimes I'm dragging the grip through impact. Thanks.
@jhaley12 Seems like you could be OTT...If you swing out to the right there is no way you will catch the heel or hosel,.Be sure that you are releasing the left shoulder arm hand ,too much right= OTT,make sure the rear hip leads the hands in the takeaway.Cock the left wrist up,it will flatten naturaly in the Down swing, with a bent right.Lead the hands inside with a right hip turn. This will clear space 4 the hands & arms to come from the inside. The rear shoulder can cause OTT.Lead with left.
i'm a 4 handicap, I've been hitting the ball either on the hosel or very close to it. I have tried EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING to fix this but cannot do it. I think I'm hitting too far from the inside because my shots start right and stay right and usually (when i'm hitting it good) i have a slight natural draw of about 6 to 7 yds. PLEASE tell me what to do to correct this, I am on the verge of quitting because I cannot fix this.
Hi Jeff. Great video. I've worked hard on vertical hinging to get the club more up, but my arms overswing and my left wrist cups and the club gets across the line at the top. How can I get the club up but then be in a flat left wrist position at the top with the clubhead pointing at the target and not first base?? Thank you so much.
Jeff,
Would you consider using a Swing Plane Trainer to work on swing plane?
Thanks.
