This track + Majestic are simply the best parts of U.F.Orb. Loads of you will raise your eye-brows and differ my thought but thats cool...
For me, this is what The Orb were all about.
Great post.

I think this is one of the few albums I actually bought on tape. Worth every penny.

@shobley That got me too - it was a thing that several other tracks used at the time, starting the bassline half-way through a bar so that when the drums come in you have to do a kind of half-step in your mind to get back on track.

What I love about this track is how the bassline tries to confound you - just when you think you've got the bars all worked out the bass drum comes in and proves you wrong.
Although it seems that I've listened to it so much that the trickery no longer works...

Saw them in @ the ancienne belgique in Brussel 1995.
One of the greatest gigs i've ever seen!
still kicks ass!

I've been having an Orb revival session for the last few days.
UFOrb was possibly the best album. Orbus Terranum, Orblivion, Cydonia and Bicyles & Tricycles all contain good tracks though. Try "centuries" and "Montagne D'or".
I'm goin...take me with you :))

You know how years later, you hear Ambient music from way back & it sounds hokey? Not so with The Orb. Their stuff is eternally awesome :)

I know exactly what you mean!
Yea... The Orb put the 'ie' in 'Ambient'. i.e. the rhythm. Th@'s wh@ holds it altogether making it so enduring ☺

Yup, been listening since I was a tween!Heh, I think they were in my neck of the woods during the summer & I'm kicking myself for not going to the concert!

I almost got to see them in Brum, '91 I think it was, but never did. Did they play a festival last Summer? Maybe they'll turn out again? I'd like to see 'em.
I'm umming and ahhing at the moment whether to fork out £28 to see Massive Attack in February? ;-j
