This video presents exerpts from the letters and diaries of Jesuit missionaries in Canada during the early 17th century. The Jesuit conversion program focused on teaching the Natives the importance and sanctity of hierarchy, womens subjugation and the corporeal punishment of children, to put each other in prison and publicly persecute each other. I made this movie to illustrate an example of how hierarchy, oppression and abuse is NOT a natural state in human beings, but rather a result of what we have been taught, and that these teachings historically have been carefully planned and organized by powerful institutions.

The photos of indigenous people are random and obviously younger than the texts presented here. However, the drawings and prints of Jesuit missionaries in Canada certainly illustrate and derive from the time we are referring to here.

  • I have always associated throat singing specifically with Mongolians and nearby peoples. Is this practiced by Canadian Natives as well?

  • @Midvinterblot542 No, not really. It is a Tuvan singing. I should have used native american music but at the time I had experienced the restrictions of what music you can put on youtube so I tried some music I knew I could use.

  • a genocide of culture also happened to europe when christianity came storming in.

    thank you for your videos!

  • @MrsLetsgocamping I agree, what I have presented here is just one part of a pattern that has repeated itself too many times over the last two millenniae...

  • You have a tremendous abliity to peel away the shroud of deception and reveal the heart of reality. Regardless of what the truth will mean to your audience when highlighted as you have presented.

I applaud your skills and your style.

  • Well, they did the same with old norse people. Nordic people were forced to christendom. Heathens were slaughtered or imprisoned. Nothing new. History is always the same. Men never learn from their atrocities.

  • History of politicts, the world culture squashed the backwater one, happens every day of the week.

Please if your going to stand on Historical (cough, they're reducing history tought in schools as i type this Down-Under) research you have a responsibility to ask viewers to do their own.
