@midnightfirews6: Yes, the suspension at this time was upgraded but I don't remember exactly what I had at that time, offhand. At minimum better shocks and struts, Jamex springs, I think, a lot of Hotchkiss stuff, Spohn torque arm, etc. I do remember the tires, they were General XP2000, which were really awesome tires.
I changed out the 700R4 to a 5-speed about 5 years ago. I'm not sure I remember all the details on the auto tranny, but IIRC it had a Darrel Young hi-stall converter; B&M shift kit and valve body work; a high pressure valve that was some aftermarket thing I got for it. It would stay in any gear at any speed and you could downshift at any speed. I got quite good at blipping the throttle while pulling the shift handle and making the engine rpm match the tranny when downshifting.
Thats awesome, I love how our cars handle. I enjoyed watching at parts where you had to wait for the fourth gen because you were gaining too much on him.
Did you do anything to the suspension? and do you recall what tires were you running?
