Snow; the weather you love to hate. Filmed in Brighton at 2am on the 2nd of December, the night of the major southern snowfall in the UK. It's -3° C, everything is cold... yet people are still out photographing and playing around in the icy wonderland.

Yes, I'm 'back'ish. If enough people like this video I might just do another one. Basically I've been buckling down on making new short films and pushed vlogging aside.

I doubt this video will be at all amusing seeing as I usually scripted my previous ones... and had topics and stuff.

Anyway this is sort of a tech demo in some cases for lighting and digital workflows.

  • @OliverNewport Great video. A shame we didn't get that this time round. How did you get permission to use Moddi's music? I would like to but I can't see any way of contacting him or the record company about it :s

  • @p0ppywho Oh, I just emailed him directly. At the time I don't think he was signed, or rather he was in process of being signed. The record label messages me back and I got an email directly from Moddi letting me use the track. All very lovely.

  • Did you actually do anything to 'protect' the camera in the snow? I tried to 'protect' mine, but it broke anyway :')

Awesome video by the way, definitely. :3

  • @milliej080 Narp. I didn't bother at all. All my lenses had about a week of being a bit mucked up, all stiff etc. I probably should take more care of them... but they're awful cheap things anyway. If I had a lens which cost more than £100 then I might consider it.

  • What kind of effects did you use with the after-effects software to get the lighting like that?

  • @fullfire55 I didn't actually use the After Effects software. I used Final Cut Pro 7 + Magic Bullet Looks 2 to grade the movie. MBL is a great piece of software, and I'd highly recommend it. However, lighting wise, I only had a little torch with me so the majority is finding places with great natural light.

  • Olly; this is it. This is my favourite video of yours and it's the most beautiful composition I've seen in a very long time.

Simply Amazing, you've got an amazing talent right here.

    Keep it up.

  • Brilliant composition and lighting. Very cold yet tranquil, it makes you feel as though you're out in the sub zero temperatures whilst watching the video from the warmth of your own home.

The subtle sounds of the soundtrack and soundscape only add to the atmosphere that you're sculpting. Truly encapsulating and a brilliant all round piece.

    Love it.
