This is just a little video demo of my Singer 99. I show how to thread it and wind a bobbin, the back and underside.

  • Brian, So informative. What kind of wax did you use? cnt

  • @LittleStrawHats I use a wax called Scratch Out for automotive applications. I believe you can find it pretty much anywhere. I like to apply and remove it with a microfiber cloth. It's what you might refer to as a "cleaner" wax product that's designed to remove and polish surface imperfections from paint. It's really rather fun since a sewing machine is small and easy to work with. Very much instant gratification!

  • Brian - Due to a Bucket List I recently did, I purchased an vintage Singer similiar to what I learned to sew on - I loved it so much, it's been 6 weeks and now I own 11 vintage Singers - one of my favorites is the Black Betty, and my question is regarding the threading of the 99 - right after the tension is a lever immediately to the left you go around, mine has a hole in the lever making you think you should thread through this hole - can you please comment on this

  • Thanks, Brian. I just bought one of these (except in a cabinet). I appreciate the demonstrations. Blessings!!!

  • Thanks for posting this video, more people will be inclined to use a sewing machine once the mysteries of; threading properly, bobbin loading, adjusting thread tension, etc. There are loads of nice Singer sewing machines out there, especially the older ones like you demo here. All you have to do is cruise some yard sales, flea markets, etc. the Singer is an excellent machine to chose. Thanks!
