JAMES NORRIS is shown while upbound in the Welland Canal below Lock 8 at Port Colborne, Ontario at 0945 hours on December 15, 2009. The classic 1952-built steamer was upbound in ballast from Toronto, Ontario, where it had just unloaded a cargo of salt from Fairport Harbor, Ohio and was bound for Windsor, Ontario to load salt. Now,the last ime I talked to ULS the James Norris was available again and so I tried again only too find out that ULS will beputting her up for some work in Port Weller either last year or this year so she will be off for a bit.AlthoughI have not been intouch with ULS,I'm not sure how the economy has affected the rebuild. Thats ok,i'll try again later...Take care..

cwazmbfan,I was looking at putting a Great lakes Museum for the Toronto area a number years ago and one of the vessels I was looking at was the James Norris.I was granted a berth in Mississauga and was in talks with ULS for the James Norris as she was laid up for some time.ULS had said no as they were converting her too a Self-unloader and that would not be good for my purpose.I was looking at the Seaway Queen but missed her and then Mississauga sold the gas plant.
