This show has been restored from it's original 2" color videotape but it's only been shown, so far, at film/video preservation meetings for the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA), the last time was this past August 2010.

I can do that...but I just don't want to..! I jest. This is extraordinarily beautiful in the softest kind of athletic way. Inspirational.

Thank you so much for posting this! I never thought I would get to see anything from the show aside from the introduction that was on pbs' website a few years ago. It was great to see, maybe one day it will be released on dvd.

Rare footage indeed. Thank you so much for posting this. I'd heard of this TV special for years, but assumed it was lost like so many other early treasures. Beyond this, I'd never thought of Ms. Charisse performing on television before, but after all, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and Esther Williams all conquered television with musical specials in that 1959-1960 period. To the other poster, thank you for mentioning an existing color videotape master- do you know if it'll be released to DVD?
