@bree0cheese Like when people say (for example) "Homework is gay." That annoys me to no end because how can homework have any sexual preference.
-
@mdsoccerluver Um...I would suggest posting this in a post-Potter related video.
-
@bree0cheese Exactly. Like, does that mean that the t-shirt (for example) has a sexuality?

We actually talked about this in my Anthropology class last semester. We consider 'bad words' to be vulgar. What we don't realize is that 'vulgar' was what, back in the Renaissance, meant 'common.' What do we all do that is common? Well, we've got pretty much anything that had do with the lower body. The common people, back in the Renaissance, were considered the lower body of society. And so, words such as f***, and sh** actually were common (or vulgar) words back then.

why are words what they are, for example why is grass called grass, in the non-religious way in the theory of science and evolution, like someone didnt just go
"Hm, this should be called green, green should be a coulor, colours should be shades of visual persepective"
Like, really

Bitch means female dog. And it used to be that if you wanted to insult a man you would call him a women, and if you wanted to insult a women you called her an animal. So during the time Bitch was a really good insult.

I'm pretty sure this video was inspired by watching BSG and the extensive use of a word "frack" in the show.
AFAIK creators replaced all f-words with frack to get a lower age-rate, which somehow demonstrates American word puritanism mentioned by @ButterFingers7924, I mean, you can shoot other people, throw them through an airlock and it's OK for children as long as you don't swear ;)
i hate when people use the word 'gay' the wrong way. Like when they go and say, "wow, that is so gay!" but what makes its gay?!

Stephen Fry did a 4 part series about how language developed, and he did a whole episode that explains swearing. If you can find it anywhere online you should watch it. It was seriously interesting, and it was Stephen Fry. So win!
