people are going like "wow this is so different" but me, with my parents from Bangladesh and hearing stories like this, i'm going like "yup, this is completely normal" and really it is normal, which is kind of sad. get this boy a flashlight or something.

@kaypgirl Great questions. Not all the residents in this orphanage are orphans. Orphanages work differently in Bangladesh because there is no legal adoption in this country. So "orphanages" are more like dormitories - usually attached to a school where free education is provided.
Some residents have allowance from their surviving family. Others share candles and/or poor money. I think solar lighting would be the ideal solution. But this particular orphanage have a lot of needs & little funding.

Where do orphans get the money for candles?
And would giving them something better than candles work, like solar powered light or LED battery powered light sources? Or would those not last long enough? Too easy to go missing?

I like those videos and that they arent narrated but just show a situation which is probably completely normal in Bangladesh but still so very different from what I am used to, living in West Europe.
