These M1A rifles are so badass! I own three of them. All of those glorified AR rifles in the .308 are no match for the M1A's.

Personally I think the United States military should go back to using the M14. Especially now that there are shorter models, and tactical accessories.

I recently picked up a walnut m1a scout and it was much lighter than expected. I don't know why people are complaining about the weight. I find it to be a very solid rifle.

Do I need a scout scope or will a normal one work fine?

I plan to get the same rifle soon, except for a Burris 2x7 pistol scope and green furniture. Pistol scopes are very very tough and minimum eye relief is 10", very comfortable and functional. The 7x is NEEDED to discern more distant targets and 2x is great for close/fast shots.A 1x10 would be optimal but they don't make those yet. This rig is the definition of All Purpose Rifle. Enough hitting power for most any situation, good range, fast on target and plenty of capacity.
