A 4 Stage Cockroft-Walton driven by a car ignition coil driver outputs close to 200kV on this video for a few seconds. One of the rectifiers on the first stage fails, shorting the output at the end.

  • Want the secret to stop shorting your diodes? They're expensive aren't they? Slow the current surges caused each time you have a discharge at the output terminal. Put 33 ohm 5 watt resister in series with EVERY capacitor and diode. You will have two resistors between every cap. In the middle of these resistors is where you tie the stack of diodes. If you have everything sized correctly, your Cockcroft-Walton multiplier will be indestructible. It is a lot more fun than boring Corvette.

  • @joesitter20101 There is a water resistor at the discharge end... I think they are getting over volted...

  • Hahaha... Well fortunately I have my 700-horsepower Corvette to compete with Reid's WRX ;)

  • @Powerlabs water doesnt have much resistance

  • I do this with After effects.

  • @Eldritch8 Besides Uzzors2k..That is!

  • This is still the most impressive design and video demonstration of a Voltage Multiplier Ive seen. Well Done*

  • @errorserver3000

Nah, not everybody has a crap PC.

  • hi would you tell me what make ya transformer is and how many volts it gives out. many thanx ;-)

  • @joesitter20101 Or run it in mineral oil...
