http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/Effects_Pedals_&_Processors/Guitar_Effects/S... he Boss RT20 is a rotary speaker simulator using Boss's proprietory COSM technology, however in old money we'd probably describe this effect as an emulation of the Leslie Speaker. The RT20 is a dual pedal that authentically reproduces classic rotary speaker effects with adjustable parameters for rise time, horn and bass speed.

The pedal also features an eye-catching virtual rotor display on the LED screen on the surface of the pedal. With the RT-20, COSM technology is used to simulate classic rotary characteristics, allowing the virtual horn and bass speaker to be independently adjusted. The RT20 has four modes to switch between for different types of rotary effects, from standard rotary speaker to rock-oriented distorted tones....

I first heard the Leslie effect listening to the guitar solo on the Beatles track "Let it Be" and wondered even back then how they came to create the swirling sound. Many years later it was explained to me as a young musician that the speaker has the ability to spin around as it outputs sound ... For me this is an acquired taste in effects - although there are undoubtedly plenty of keyboard players out there who will welcome this pedal so that they can use it on organ sounds amongst others. Like most effects the Leslie effect will create the most attention when it is used subtly ... However as a viable alternative to carrying a back-breaking Leslie cabinet up several flights of stairs the RT-20 will be a godsend ...

  • nbovio I must respectfully disagree. When connected to a real vintage Hammond and a Twin Reverb, this pedal makes an acceptable simulation of a Leslie for someone on a tight budget. I didn't appreciate how good it is until I got my real Leslie 122. The headphone out is also handy for late night practice, especially if you have bitchy neighbors (who doesn't?) I did try it on guitar, and I was less than thrilled. The Univibe setting is not even close. Basically a keyboard pedal for sure.

  • I would like to see and hear one of these on a keybroad

  • Is the worse pedal in the world :/

  • @CCRockit this is someone who sells their products... not BOSS themselves

  • Boss ain't exactly working hard to sell their pedals are they? only 33 seconds?
