@Balthic Technically there's nothing wrong with lavish hotels for tourists as long as the hotel makes money for NK. I mean that's what capitalism is about actually. A manufacturer selling $10,000 toiler seats to Wall Street CEOS while other americans are homeless, we allow it.

@aleken What's wrong with pointing out how bizarre it is in a bizarre country? Why should we be so politically correct that we're only allowed to say nice things about a country and be in denial of the bleeding obvious?
And the pretentious nature of the North Korean tourism industry has nothing to do with culture. Blowing money on lavish, under-used hotels and pampering a few lonely tourists while the wider population starves is not Korean culture, it just shows the crookedness of the regime.
