This controversial socio-political documentary by filmmaker Olallo Rubio explores the complex relationship between Mexico and its northern neighbor. Through candid on-the-street interviews, hilarious animations, and media parodies, Rubio challenges our notions of money, power, privilege and race, while shedding new light on the precarious future of the world economy. Running the gamut of current socio-political issues, including oil-wars, drug smuggling, and human trafficking, "¿Y tú, cuánto cuestas?" offers scathing visual critiques of a world dominated by US culture and economy and supports those weary of the mainstream media's jingoistic complacency. Born in Mexico of a Spanish father and Lebanese mother, Rubio grew up in San Diego, California. His multi-cultural critique of twenty-first-century global trends coupled with his raw aesthetic make Rubio a unique, original filmmaker to watch.
