Do you ever go to the bars/clubs on the weekends or do you just sit at home alone on weekends?

@CheetoStud I rarely go out, but when I do I always have a bottle of water in my hand. I think part of what drinking was for me was always having something in my hand. I don't go out because I realized after I quit drinking that I don't really enjoy going out to clubs. I prefer to stay at home & work or spend time with close friends. Sometimes I do sit alone at home on weekends & I enjoy it quite a bit :-)

So my boyfriend is in Afghanistan...and he uses alcohol as a "crutch"...but I'm afraid he'll rely on it too much. How can I help him understand that there are better ways to clear your mind of things. I don't want to lose him to drinking because I have seen it happen before. Any suggestions?

@breannep17 I don't want to condone drinking, but war is something I cannot relate to unfortunately. I think all you can really do is be the best support system to him as you possibly can. One thing I have learned about alcohol is that it's not highly effective when you tell people not to drink. I think that makes them want to do it even more. I would suggest leading by example, talking about it with them, & encouraging alternate solutions.

I'm also gay, and for me, alcohol is best avoided. It drives me to masturbate to porn, which drives me to meaningless hookups with complete strangers. In the end I feel dirty and disgusting and have put myself at risk of STIs. It's a big problem but I think I'm getting it under control.

You are extremely gay. But, I do agree with you. I realize that my own addiction is feeding itself. And once you start drinking as you said it's very difficult to stop drinking. I enjoyed your video and I hope you find the man of your dreams :-)

congrats, i quit too. i'm 18 and i choose not to drink. it's unhealthy, stupid, and foolish. there's nothing to gain from it. it holds you back from being productive and happy. exercise is a much better alternative.

You don't have to completely quit. You just need to do it in moderation. Drinking when you're sad or depressed is bad. Having a beer at dinner with close friends is ok

I think I was meant to see your video today. I did something I wasn't proud of last night. I guess kinda like you I started drinking at a young age, and over the years I've began to associate many things with alcohol. Many of which I am not proud of, and the one common denominator....booze. I like my Whiskey, but unfortunately I can't have just one.

"The One" is out there for both of us...somewhere. At least we eliminated the bar right? Thanks man and God Speed.
