@ThatMiserableCat The 5th gen Civic VX and CX hatchbacks were both able to get better than 40 mpg and they were quite a bit bigger than this car. I regularly got 46 hwy in my CX, but I think the VX had an even higher EPA rating.

the battery is bigger than the motor

could you fit a single cam in there... is it possible without having to cut away at the car?

The Honda Sedan and Z Coupe were equipped with air-cooled 2-cylinder 600cc engines. They had 4-speed manual transmissions, and the shifter was on the small dashboard. There actually WERE seats in the back, but one would probably fit better in the back seat of a Porsche 911. Get used to it. This will be about as large a car as our government will allow us to own and operate when Washington's new mileage standards come into effect, soon. I'm keeping my Cougar, and converting to clean CNG.

It is indeed air cooled, and front wheel drive. My dad had one and how I wished I could get my hands on one now!! 40mpg+ !! Some company could easily make these again.. IF governments would keep their mitts out.
