Riding the very nice elevators at the Town Lake Holiday Inn Hotel in Downtown Austin, Texas.

Technical specs:
General-Westinghouse/Geared Traction.
Performance-3000 Lbs/10 HP.
Distance-140 feet/14 floors & 400 FPM.
Year-Installed/1967, Modernized/1985.

  • Yes, I would use 500-600 FPM for the speed, and it's interesting how the chime sounds like an Otis elevator chime.

  • I think it was a cab light with a bad ballast.

  • Yes, because there is no floor 13, which is of course superstition, but it also puts the floor numbering sequence out of order.

  • For 14 floors I would've made this elevator go 500 FPM instead of just 400.
