Hello, I'm Joslyn Davis and welcome to the ClevverTV celebrity profile of Selena Gomez.

Selena Gomez is being hailed the next biggest teen celeb, not just here in the states, but throughout the world, as well. Like her long time best friend and fellow celebrity, Demi Lovato, Selena is also a Texas native. The teen sensation was named after the famed singer of the same name.

Selena's mom, Mandy, gave birth to her in New York City when she was only 16 years old. At a very young age, her family relocated to Texas, where Mandy was originally from herself. Selena's father, Ricardo Gomez and her mother split when Selena was only five years old, and she has spent the majority of her life with her mom, who recalls living from paycheck to paycheck as a young mom. And it was reportedly because of her mother that Selena was bit by the acting bug. Mandy herself was a stage actress and apparently Selena would sit next to her coloring as she prepared to hit the stage, and mom realized that Selena had the lines memorized better than she did. It was at that point that Selena said to her mom "I want to be like you!"

Then at age 7, Selena landed her big role on Barney and Friends, also meeting Demi Lovato. Funny enough though, the episodes including Sel didn't actually air until she was in 5th grade, leading to some confusion as to how old she was when they were taped. After Barney wrapped, Selena enjoyed a handful of smaller roles in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" and "Walker Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire."

S-G received her next big break though when she was discovered in a Disney Channel nation wide talent search. Her first roles were on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody and a recurring role on Hannah Montana. During her time on Hannah rumors swirled that she and Miley Cyrus had a feud over two things - one being jealously over Selena's growing popularity and two being Nick Jonas. Of course both girls deny these rumors though. In an interesting twist, Selena was actually cast to play Stevie Sanchez in the spin-off of Lizzie McGuire, but the show never ended up airing.

Either way, Selena made a great impression on Disney, and she was later offered her own series, "Wizards of Waverly Place." Not only that, she Sel also starred in "Another Cinderella Story," and a bit later in "Princess Protection Program" with her real-life bff Demi Lovato. Through these projects, Selena was first offered the opportunity to record music....first was a cover of "Cruella de Vil" for DisneyMania6, then songs for two of her TV movies, and then ultimately her own album with her band the Scene. Her debut release was certified a gold record.

Aside from her music and singing careers, Selena is also a very active philanthropist, and the youngest ever ambassador for Unicef. Like her fellow Disney stars, she also participates in the Disney Friends for Change Campaign.

Selena is also getting ready to launch her very own clothing line at Kmart, called Dream out Loud. It will include a variety of affordable pieces, and will included apparel, accessories and shoes. Selena's own fashion taste always includes her favorite shoes - Converse.

The teen megastar describes herself as a being a "huge animal lover" and she has four dogs - Chip, Willy, Fina and Wallace. Despite the fact that she is an only child, Selena does have many close friends, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Stone and Demi Lovato. Taylor Swift has been called almost a big sister figure to Selena - the two have talked about they've bonded over sharing heartbreak stories - and of course they've both famously dated Jonas Brothers. Gomez reportedly dated Nick Jonas over two separate time periods, but as of now she is single. Her ultimate celebrity crush though is Shia LaBeouf . She has also been linked to Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who she met while shooting her first big feature film "Ramona and Beezus" in Vancouver.

This move into feature films marks a huge career move for Selena Gomez. With the launch of her clothing line approaching and the success of her album, she could very well be the next huge teen celebrity. @LoveYaEva123 some of that is true but soon no one will hear much from her and I think she is a bad role model but Selena is a great person Miley used to be until fame got to her I'm hoping that doesn't happen to Selena and I think Selena has a great voice and great songs ever since mileys song I can't be tamed I can't listen to her music anymore I use to love Miley but now she is just a has been and that might happen to Selena but I think she will star a movie career

well Selena can sing but she cant be compared to teen queen Miley cyrus, Selena

have a low voice and cant even fill the whole stage but Miley have a very high powerful voice and

she can hit the high note unless like Selena she cant even hit the high note and Miley is more famous than

Selena like i say before Selena cant be compared to Miley Cyrus
