Oh noes! I lost my original description. Anyway, this game was written for the Wii and is running on a Wii dev kit.
//
This was made for DigiPen's GAT488 class, a one semester class introducing Wii development. This game was created over maybe three weeks towards the end of the semester after submitting Dreamside to IGF/IGC.
//
Initially I wrote a simple engine to abstract the system and graphics calls, then I implemented the back end twice, once for the Wii, once on pc using Open GL and SDL. This allowed me to write the gameplay code at home and drop it in to my project in the lab at school.
//
Due to NDA and licensing issues, no code comes out of the Wii lab. So, this game is lost forever. Snake! Snaaaakkke!!!! Thankfully, the original gameplay code was all written outside of school for the pc version. So, maybe I can continue developing this and get around to all the neat ideas I had. Maybe. Maybe they were terrible ideas.
//
I didn't get around to much in the way of gameplay. I was going for an update to the classic, old "snakey" game. I just got movement and eating of bugs. Instead of adding more game features, I focused on the motion controls. With that and the "over-the-snake" camera angle, it has a very flower feel. Or a Dreamside feel ;D
//
The graphics are inspired by Space Giraffe. The greyish, overbright look is intentional. Going for an old blown out television. Really happy with the steerable feedback effect.
//
The audio is not part of the game. I did not get to audio programming on the Wii. The audio was just added to the video. It is a song I wrote for another project where it went unused. The song is meant to evoke the night sky and traveling in space. It is inspired by The Knife and the soundtrack to the totally awesome NES game Shadowgate.
//
Video captured with ArcSoft Total Media 3. Audio added in Windows Movie Maker. Graphics made in GIMP. Song written in Fruilty Loops Pro.
